Hi,
I just set up monitoring for a few servers, just to test how it works.
I have noticed that all warnings and alerts are assigned to me in person as soon as they happen.
This is certanly not what we want; we are using groups for initial assignment.
I have been looking around to find the place to change this, but no luck.
Can someone point me to the place where I can configure who is assigned to new monitoring warnings/alerts.

Can you not do this from the notifications? When you set up a notification you also set the recipient. You can then have different notifications for the different groups you want alerts sent to, and for the different errors you get alerted on assign the corresponding notification?
Monitoring>Notifications>Mail Details
I think this would do what you want it to

Nope, I do not send a mail, I just create a SR.
After reading your mail I looked at available fields of the Service Request Details on the design page, and there they were!
Hidden both the request user, assigned to and admin group and when I added the 3 fields to the form,
my name popped up as "assigned to".
So after modifing the default layout, I can controll who recieves the notifications

You can send the notification to the incoming email mailbox which will create a SR. You can then assign the SRs that come into the email address to who you want them to, or no one.
Does that help/make sense?

That would be antoher way to do it, but adding "admin group" and "assigned to" fields to the SR details page does it.
Thanks

Although I haven't done this, you could also create a user in SysAid with the purpose of receiving email, lets say 'alerts'.
Create a distribution group eg. 'alerts@whatever.com' and asign it to the sysaid user, then manage the recipients through active directory membership.

In my case, we use routing rules based on location of groups to assign tickets to a specific admin.
For example: If a ticket rolls in from a person who works in 'building A', SysAid then assigns that ticket to 'Admin A' who works in that building. Same for 'Building B', etc.
What I'm running into with Monitoring is that when an alert occurs and a ticket is generated, the routing rules don't seem to kick in. It just assigns the ticket to me. Since users in all locations can have the same issues it doesn't make sense for me to assign certain issues to certain admin.
We have a lot of locations that are geographically diverse, I need to be able to have alerts kick off tickets to the correct admin based on the offending asset's location.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hello amyskitchen,
Well a complex scenario no doubt
So is the offered solution the notification defining which SR will be open should be based location.
That you will need to define templates and connect asset, notification based on location.
For example: if you have a monitoring template for exchange serves and you have two located in different location you will have to define two different templates and connect the appropriate notification based on location.
I hope you understand what I mean.
