Hello,

Im looking for a way to add a custom icon to the shortcut that SysAid creates. But I am puzzled as to which property it is when editing the MSI file. Anyone know this?

And if so, which possibility's as to what path can it handle?

Thanks in Advance

Hi s.dehaan,

It is not possible at the moment to change the SysAid icon through an MSI installation, it is only possible when installing through the deployment tool.

Past 2 years... I think it is still not possible to change the installation icon while installing via msi package?

I agree there should be a mechanism built in.
I am about to try this below in a group policy and will report back later.

I however am using this post from Technet as a workaround http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753580

Configure a Shortcut Item

The two sections to note are;

Replace

Delete and recreate a shortcut for computers or users. The net result of the Replace action is to overwrite the existing shortcut. If the shortcut does not exist, then the Replace action creates a new shortcut.

Icon file path and Icon index

To specify an icon for the shortcut other than the default for the type, browse to an icon file and select an icon. (You can also type the full path for an icon file, and then type an icon index.) Do not include quotes. The Icon file path field accepts preference processing variables. Press F3 to display a list of variables from which you can select.

These options are available only if the action is Create, Replace, or Update.
