You can hide certain categories from users entirely (from Preferences > Helpdesk/servicedesk settings > categories, you have a checkbox "visible for end users" which you can remove.
You can also limit the users by Company.
In Preferences > user management > companies, you can set up different categories to show for each company (by going into the company properties page and to the "categories" tab).
at the moment no, but companies is just a different kind of grouping, so you can adjust your work flow so "company" will take the roll of your groups and viceversa, if you want, you can also change the translation file so companies will actually read as "group" and group "company".
We have used the companies to show specific categories for our users, but in the latest version 8.5, this has been removed - either by mistake or...
After our upgrade A LOT of documents etc. are now visible for all our customers - NOT very smart and we already received 7 complaint from our customers...
