Backup
This page allows you to configure your daily SysAid backups.
This page is only available if you are using the embedded Derby Database. If you are using an external database such as MySQL, MS SQL, or Oracle, you must back up the database using the database's own backup methods.

Check the Enabled box to enable backup. If you wish to manually run a backup, click the Run Now button.
- Daily backup hour
- This is the hour of the day when the backup is performed. It's recommended to pick an hour during which your helpdesk is not active.
- Backup directory
- This is the location of the SysAid backup. It is highly recommended to change the backup directory to a folder on another computer in your network as a precaution in case the SysAid Server's hard drive should crash. If you do point to a directory on another computer, you must ensure that the user that's running the SysAid Server service has write priviledges to the folder you point to. Starting in version 8.0 of SysAid, the SysAid Server service runs using the sysaidinternal user. When pointing to a network location, the path for the directory should begin with \\.
- Email recipient in case of failure
- This user will be notified if the backup is not successful. You may open a list of users to select from by clicking the ellipses button
. - Email recipient in case of success
- This user will be notified after the backup successfully finishes. You may open a list of users to select from by clicking the ellipses button
. - Send backup email notification
- Enable this option to enable the success and failure notifications you configured above. Disable this if you do not want the notifications sent out.
