Okay, first, hello to all. We have been using SysAid for a little over a year now, but just in a very basic helpdesk/ticket type of way.

I was looking at the Asset Management aspect of this and would like to use it, but I'm having some problems/questions. Hopefully someone here can explain it to me. I don't think there are any issues, but I think I'm just viewing it wrong. In case it matters, we have SysAid version 7.0.04.

1) Why are old systems in the asset list? Shouldn't those disappear if there is no contact between the server and the client after 10 days or something? I have replaced several machines and now in my asset list I have the old one and the new one listed for the same computer name.

2) Do computers have to have an agent in order to show up in the asset list? If that's the case, what is the purpose of the SNMP scan?

3) What's the difference between the "My Network Assets" and the "Asset List" tabs? I don't see a whole lot of utility with the "My Network Assets" option, unless I'm using it wrong?

We are trying to upgrade to Windows 7 and I would like to see a list of my machines and their specs to ensure that all of our machines can handle the upgrade. Seems like I should be able to do this, and mostly I can, but I would just like to get these few little things figured out. Thanks for any help!

Hi

1. Im pretty sure you have to delete the old asset that's what we do if we get rid

2. Yes pcs have to have an agent . The SNMP Scan picks up Printers, Scanners, NAS, etc etc basically everything that can not run an agent but is IT Kit.

3. Not sure on this one i think they are just different views

Hope that helps

Cheers

Hi KeybrdCowboy,

Welcome to our community.

1) SysAid doesn't delete users or assets by itself. You can delete them manually.

2) SNMP scan is for other assets like printers, routers etc.
You need to install the Agent so the user will have the shortcut and the option to use the hotkey. It is also necessary so the agent will report all the information to the SysAid Server and you will be able to remote control them.

3) In My Network Assets you can see the assets by groups and the ones that are not assign to groups. In the Asset List you can see all the assets and you can see the different information about it.

Please upgrade to SysAid Server and SysAid Agent v7.0.05 before continuing because we resolved some issues in this version.

Best Regards,
Itay

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately our support contract has run out and so we don't have access to the upgrades. Guess we'll just have to work it out. Thanks for the information!

Well, I can't help you with that except sending you a quote to renew the support
