Can SysAid Agent 7.5 run on Hyper-V Server/2008 Server Core? I've been able to deploy the agent to my Hyper-V server hosts, but the service doesn't start.
Is Hyper-V Server 2008 supported?
Thanks!

dear John Austin,
We didn't checked it particular on Hyper-V Server/2008 Server but I can't think why it shouldn't run. So You may try to Deploy the Agent to this server and also notify us on your findings.
Thanks
Inna

Well, as I said, I've been able to deploy the agent to my Hyper-V server hosts, but the service doesn't start.

John,
I guess the best way to troubleshoot this would be to submit a service request with our helpdesk. We'll request some log files from the client side to try and figure out why the service won't start.
We can then update the topic here...
Thanks,
Joseph.

Hi John,
the CoreConfigurator for Server Core will help you set the common settings and enable remote management of Server Core.
http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/guyt/archive/2008/03/22/windows-server-core-coreconfigurator-to-the-rescue.aspx
You should then be able to manage the server through MMC snap ins remotely.
http://www.petri.co.il/remotely-managing-windows-2008-server-core-firewall.htm
Hope this helps you with the troubleshooting.

Hello John,
we had the same problem last year. I could deploy the agent to the Hyper-V Server (Windows Server 2008 Standard). The service didn't start
and after the virtual servers had been shut down, they didn't start either. The technicians had to setup the server again. I hope, your problem
can be solved otherwise.
Please post the solution.
Many regards
Anette

I have Sysaid agent running on 3 2008R2 Enterprise Hyper-V servers without any issues. Didn't have to do anything special that I am aware of to get the agents to install or to get the services to start. The only real setting we have on our system that may have something to do with it is UAC is globally turned off via GPO. Possibly try turning off UAC and see if you can get them to run then?

I have successfully installed an agent on Server 2008 Core using the manual install but I cannot get the service to start. I am receiving this error:
A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the SysAid Agent service to connect.

Unubtanium,
I believe it should also work on Hyper-V, as the differences in the OS are minor.
dmadelung,
Please submit a service request with our helpdesk and we'll proceed with troubleshooting.
Thanks!
Joseph.
