When typing out a solution, the delay for the characters to be typed is really annoying. I can get 5-8 words 'ahead' of what is in Sysaid and it is really annoying to hit 'apply' and half of my solution is still waiting to be input. Is there a way to speed it up?
using Vista Buisness, IE7, with a tablet PC.

Hello MaloNovo,
Did you try using a different browser, such as firefox 3?
Is this issue occurs only on one computer or on all of your computers?
What version of SysAid are you using?
Best regards,
Vitaly Vlasenko.

The error occurs on both of our administrator machines, both of which use Internet Explorer.
The issue is not present on Firefox, but we have to use IE as that is what the firm-standard is.

Is this the only field that reacts slowly? Is it a consistent problem, every time you type a solution or is it erratic??
There have been a couple of times when the machine has suffered slow-down, but i put that down to out crap hardware not the software.

The solution field is the only one that suffers this issue. Notes, Act, messages, etc. all work fine.
It isin't computer slow down, at least not that we can tell. I can have a firefox window open and a IE window open and it works just dandy in FF and slow 1-character-per-second in IE7. I'm going to download IE8 and see if that works any better.
I think that it is something to do with the code here:
{...} <textarea name="solution" cols="120" rows="5" onchange="setChange(this);" onKeyUp="checkChange(this.value,this)" onFocus="global_value=this.value" > {...}
because what I am getting from that is that we set a variable every single time we type in that box. Although I could be wrong.

I have also found that it is also on when you are inputting a ticket into the system, in the disc. field. I had not noticed this before.

In order to address such performance issues, we would recommend that you upload your database to our ftp site and we will then check this further on our end.
To begin this process, please open a service request at helpdesk@ilient.com and we will be happy to provide you with further instructions by email.

I cannot find out how to upload our database to you. Is there a FAQ on how to do this?

Hi, we have just installed SysAid and have a similar experience. Some of our machines run fast and some slow. the ones that are slow have a really long lag on typing which is not restricted to any one field. Any text field if you type there can be a really serious time lag. Can you post the solution that you found for the previous users?
I have since found that this is an IE6 issue as does not occur using firefox. Anyone else found the answer? apart from the obvious "dont use IE6"

Looks like the answer is to get rid of IE6. Have since changed all pcs to firefox and everything runs much faster and no typing lag.

Hello everyone
After additional testings, we were not able to re-create the issue with IE 6 or 7.
Slow typing in general is being caused due to lack of system resources, so it might be a good idea to check the RAM usage of those systems.
Best regards.
Haim

We have experienced this in Outlook - it had to do with Outlook using Internet Explorer instead of Microsoft Word as its email editor. What would happen is that Outlook/IE would check every word you type against the restricted sites, etc, so it lagged out. Long story short, your problem is probably not related, but it was fixed for us by clicking Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Reset > Reset. It may be worth a shot.

Hi Haim, if you have a really grunty machine then you wont notice it but if you have a lower spec'd processor then you will. It is a know IE problem. We did not add any RAM to our lower spec'd pcs, we just changed to firefox and the lag disappears and the performance of SysAid improves.
If you have firefox and a grunty machine then you are even better off.
cheers,

Hi, just moved my thread with the similar problem to this thread.
I experience the same problems mainly with internet explorer but not with firefox. It cannot be due to a grunty machine (4GB RAM, Core2Duo 2.5GHz) but I assume that might be something with an error correction mechanism or spell checking bound to that text areas.
This issue occurs on SOME computers, and I experience that CPU load raises to 100% while trying to enter text. After the text was inserted CPU load reverts to normal.
I cannot clearly follow that issue but it occured the first time after I've updated my installation from 5.X to 6.0.4. IE8 was working fine on release 5.
Firefox is NOT an option for my company because we rely on the SSO mechanisms of IE for our company intranet and ERP system.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated
best regards,
EbroIN
