I want to select users that are in specific containers, I have no groups to base this on without major headache of working out what ones to assign to a new group

Can someone suggest some syntax I can use

Unfortunately, I did not fully understand your question, are you referring to the import of users from specific OUs, or selecting them fro them from the Users list in the User Management page ?
