Hello again,

I manage a number of standalone networks (not connected to SysAid or the internet). I'm trying to upload MAC Addresses to their associated Asset_IDs. I can export that field (with the proper view) but I can't figure out how to set a view for the "import". In other words, under Asset Management; Import Assets; Field Content I don't see "MAC Address" as an option under the drop down menu.

I've scoured the documentation, but don't see anything that addresses this. I see forum posts (from 200 that says the drop down menu is "hard coded" for some reason. Has that been fixed? Is there a way to enter MAC addresses for equipment from standalone networks?

Best Regards, Tom.

G'Day Tom,

You can not import the MAC address. You can however make this much easier on yourself by utilizing the remote network discovery tool. This can be deployed on the disconnected networks. The tool will discover the network, deploy the agents and create the asset records for you. Asset updates will also be reported back via the remote network discovery. This will however require internet access from those networks.

I would suggest you use one of the Asset custom text fields to import the data into.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Remote Network Discovery isn't an option for our environment. I'm currently using "cust_text1" to import the MAC Address values, but there are other groups that may use that field to work around some problem they may be having (and overwrite my data). If I can't import MAC addresses (not sure why), can I log into the database and move the fields around after the import...

Update computer
set Mac_address = cust_text1 and
set cust_test2 = "Done"
where cust_text2 = "Update"

...something like that?

Thanks, Tom.
