I am wondering if there are any documentation (found non in the www.ilient.com website) regarding moving sysaid to a different server?

We are planning on retiring the server which is currently used for Sysaid and move it to a VM Server. We are running Sysaid Pro Plus with a SQL database. I have the same version of MS SQL Server installed on the VM Server.

I'm wondering if it's as simple as installing the same version of sysaid to the new server, copy over the license file, copy the database from the old server to the new one and redeploying the agent on all assets (to make sure they report ot the new server).

There is no SysAid only Zuel

We are planning the same - almost identical. How did it go?
Any insight into this?

It's been complete and all done. It went pretty smooth and the operation was done exactly how I thought it should be done. I did get in touch with Support to confirm the procedure and they did confirm it.

To sum it up, I installed the same version of sysaid to a different server. as a new installation (created database, etc). Then we stop the service on the previous server and move the database from the old server to the new one (backup/restore also works, we are running under MS Sql so a backup restore worked well for us) then I started back the sysaid service on the new server (left the sysaid service on the old server stopped).

then it was a matter of uploading again the activsation key. Once that was done, I was able to log in to sysaid and all of our data and customization where done (except for translation files, which I exported from the old server and imported on the new one).

The last step was to re-deploy the sysaid agent on all computers and servers. Make sure you enter the correct URL (new server) and activation key and deploy everywhere. I did a few spot check the following days to make sure I didn't miss any and got a few calls about users not being able to create a service request and deploying the Agent back to their computer fixed the issue.

It went suprinsingly well and fast.

Good luck with your move.

I think your best way is to use PtoV from VM Ware.

I cannot guarantee the result but I have make some test with others servers with great results.
Good luck.
