Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to increase the amount of time it takes to ping an asset?

My Network Operations team noticed that there is a lot of traffic on the sysaid server with the constant pings to at least a thousand assets in the building.
and they wanted to know if we can bump the timer to be more than 60 seconds?

Thanks
snagler

I would like to understand better, there are several Ping options:
1. This could be set in monitoring module as set to ping's (from 10 to 60 sec's) more then that will defeat the purpose of keep alive
2. the "keep alive' or actual asset reporting to sysaid server
Please add any network capture or explanation to this issue and i will refer you to the answer

The issue we are noticing is the activity on the Sysaid server is eating up a ton of bandwidth by pinging a couple thousand assets on our network.

Now you mention "keep alive", by that do you mean if the ping doesn't run within the given time frame (2-60 seconds) then the assets will no longer exist in Sysaid??

The minimum amount time we are hoping for in terms of pinging an asset is about 5-10 minutes. This will definitely help relieve the activity on our Sysaid server.
If this can be done, please let me know.

After better understanding your question and as to this notion that this is not relevant as to monitoring but to the option of the time frame that sysaid server is sampling the asset
As to this when you deploy an asset (via the admin tool per sample) you can define the interval of reporting back up to 360 sec. (see screen shoot attached)

Bare in mind:
This delay in response though to better the network load
(which is also not so defenent as the asset sends just a small amount of traffic [about max of 300byte] and that multiplied on max asset divided by that interval is not a substantial network load )
Can affect :
1. remote session from within sysaid server > to > agent (RCG/DIRECT)
2. delay inventory reporting
