Using v8.5.04 Pro Plus Edition

I receive this error in my logs when trying to do a WMI scan. When deploying the agent, I see the same error.

I am running a scan on a single IP for testing purposes, and it still errors out. I am also running this scan as a domain administrator.

Any thoughts?

2/16/12 8:39 AM SysAid Server Running WMI SCAN on ...
2/16/12 8:39 AM SysAid Server Error in WMIScanThreadorg.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException: error: Unexpected end of file

I have also seen this error : Error on getting discovery service messages from sysaid server.java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

Thanks for the help

-Evan

Hi Evan,

I was having the same issue up till a few minutes ago on my newly installed Windows 2003 Server Standard R2 64 bit.

I saw it required Java so I installed it - no luck.

I then did Windows Update and Selected all of the Required Updates Including the Optional ones. The Scan now works. Here is the list of installed programs on my server to help pin down what might have been the issue:
- Java 6 Update 31 (Doubtful and removing to prevent security issues)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
- MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430)
- MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB97368
- Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

The Windows updates have seemed to resolve my issues with WMI scans and other asset management functions.

I am now seeing the Network Discovery Wizard counting through the assets, and no errors in my logs.

Thanks for the suggestions!

hi to all , we had the same problem, i think this is a bug or something like. To solve, simply don't use the "Quick" option during the deployment.

Sorry for bringing back this "resolved" thread, but i still have exactly that problem, that under WINDOWS 7 Ultimate 64bit neither a WMI Scan will work, nor a manual Deploy.
No matter what i try, i allways get these errormessages:

09.06.12 21:39 - SysAid Server - Running WMI SCAN on ITS
09.06.12 21:39 - SysAid Server - Error in WMIScanThreadorg.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException: error: Unexpected end of file after null

09.06.12 23:26 - SysAid Server - Running Deploy on ITS
09.06.12 23:26 - SysAid Server - Error in DeployThreadorg.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException: error: Unexpected end of file after null

These are my configurations:

SysAid Server: latest SysAid Server free edition ( 8.5.08 )
Machine: Dell PC with QuadCore Intel CPU and on Apple MacMini with Intel DuoCore CPU running also Windows 7 64bit
Systemsoftware: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with SP1
Java Runtime Environment: Java 7 Update 4 (latest Version as for June 2012)
RAM: 8192 MB on both machines
Tested Browsers: InternetExplorer 9 , Safari 5.13 , Mozilla FireFox 13

Systemupdate shows no available Updates - so my Machine has all available Updates.
Systemupdate shows all Updates for Microsoft .NET Frameworks 2.0 , 3.0 , 3.5.1 , 4.0 - all Updates for MSXML 4.0

So when i let the System check for new available Updates, System tells me, there are no new Updates availabe for my System.

My main Problem is: i would like to translate the messages for RemoteControl Dialogs (which normaly can be configured by entering the text in the dialogbox for AgentSetup).
But whenever i try to Update the SysAgents or collecting Infos via WMI Scan, i get the above descripted error messages.

I have also tried all this on an fresh installed Windows XP SP3 Setup - but guess what? No success - same errors.

So please - anybody who can fix my problems or any hints on what else to try to make it work as expected?

Thanx in advance. Regards...

Sorry, it's me again.

Whenever i try to make a WMI-Scan via IP, i'll get the error, that the given domain administrator credentials are invalid.
No matter what i pick for the name in the field Domain\User: domain\adminname or machinename\adminname or just adminname,
i always get the errormessage:

Starting WMI scan
Finished WMI Scan on 10.0.2.106 - 10.0.2.106, found 0 devices
Invalid domain administrator credentials for host - 10.0.2.106

But i know, the given name/password is definitely correct.

When i try the same credentials (domain\adminusername) for the machine where sysaid server is running on,
i get the message that 1 device was found.

Both machines are on the same networkrange and domain.

So these are the facts:

machine, which gave the error has ip 10.0.2.106

machine, which gave no error and where sysaid server is running on has ip 10.0.2.108

both have the same administrator account like "admin / password" as username / password

wmi scan will always be initiated on machine 108 (sysaid server).

So how do i have to enter adminaccountname w/o getting the "invalid credential" message?

PS: forgot to mention, that machine 10.0.2.106 has none of the sysaid tools installed or running,
cause Sysaid mentioned that its not needed just to collect the assetdata via WMI Scan.

Hallo everybody,

got my problem solved !!! Just have to make an entry in the registry of every computer running WIN7:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Make a 32Bit DWord Entry and name it LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy and give that entry a Value of 1

After that you have to reboot every Computer, on which you made that entry.

VOILA: now my WMI-Scan works as expected and counts all my network-assets!
