I am getting an error when attempting to do a backup to a network location.

"Your database backup could not be completed. More details: java.sql.SQLException: Cannot create backup directory \\(Servername)\(Folder)\BackupTemp\5."

This folder is on a windows box with full access. the everyone group has share and ntfs permission. When i run a backup to c:\sysaid it works fine. When i try any network file server (linux or windows server) it fails with this error.

Any ideas?

What account is used when writing to 1-7 folders on the destination? I have yet to figure that out.

I believe the account used is the logon account for the Sysaid service. I think by default it creates and uses a local account called sysaidinternal; to write to a network share you'd probably need to change the service account to a domain account with permissions on the remote location (and also is a member of the local Adminstrators group).

I don't think you can backup to a network location. Only local.

For network location, you'll probably have to use ntbackup or whatever it's called nowadays.

You can run a backup locally (on the sysaid server)
You can choose to backup to a network share , but you will need to use either a domain admin with full permissions or any user that has access to read/write to that network share
You can also backup local and create a script to move the data from sysaid server > to any location (depending that that user has those permissions)

Hi,

My backup stops after a minute! He starts back up in the folder 1, sets the default folder and then stops after about a minute, and there are no more subfolders in the folder 1 I do not get an error message!

I tried the backup from a UNC path and on a local hard drive, both the same result

Sysaidinternal the user has all permissions for services and folders!

Has an idea why this is?

regards
Karlson
