A month ago I received an temporary upgrade license after adding additional admins to our Enterprise SysAid license. This morning my admins were greeted with a message that the temporary licensed had expired and they no one was able to get in. I know the way around this is to pay for the permanent license, but sometime our AP department is slow to pay or the postal service is slow to deliver. I think it would be better that instead of just shutting down SysAid all together, where no one can log in, that just the temporary addition of admins would become inactive and we would still be able to use what we had already paid for.
Luckily I knew where the license XML was stored and just renamed the upgrade_activation.xml license to .old and restarted the SysAid Server service so users could get in. I also was lucky enough to have someone on Support Chat forward me a new temporary license until they receive the check. but it was just frustrating that I had a system down because a temporary upgrade license had expired. When that happens, it should just default back to the license you had previously, like it says it would do on the Pref-->About page.
The following attributes will be changed after Expiration date at : 2012-06-03
Maximum no. of administrators after SysAid license expires.: 40
When you receive a temporary file for and upgrade quote (not your first purchase) your SysAid should stay up and running just take away the addition if you overdue, just as you said.
If this is not what happened we will be happy if you could provide us your SysAid release information so we could troubleshot and fix the issue.
We are using Enterprise 8.5.08. I thought that was how it worked in the past, so when I get the notice and no one could log in last week I was a bit confused. When I brought it up to support in chat the person I was chatting with made it sound like that was normal.
I have just gotten our BONIFIED Activation file and wish to get our (now expired) temporariy SysAid server back up and running. I tried the directions to copy the XML file over the top of the old one and to re-start servcies... but it did nto work. Any ideas?
