I want to use the Software update filter, but I am getting alot of alerts that are not necessary:
For example:
Additional information:
Filter name: None
Software Product Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable version changed from 8.0.61001 to 8.0.59193
Nothing was installed on this server when this alert came up. We seem to get alot of these related to visual c++
Can I use the filter field to exclude these alerts?

It was thought that this may be fixed with the latest version, but I still get this.
Does anyone else have this issue?
thanks.

Dear MichelleU ,
Thank you for this post and sorry for the late reply,
Basically the SysAid Monitoring>>Software/Hardware updates>>Software filter is used to detect when a un desirable software was installed, like eMule for example.
Or if you put the * sign to get all software updates, but this can swamp you with a lot of information.
I would like to get a screen shot of the definitions in the monitoring Software/Hardware updates tab, but it looks like an automatic minor update was detected by SysAid and this triggered the notification.
Best Regards

Hi,
I need it to send an alert anytime any software is installed. So we do use the *
Can I use a regular expression in the filter field to exlcude certain applications.
The sysaid software is reporting that software is being installed when it actually isn't. We get many, many of those C++ errors and I know that nothing has been installed.
Since it is incorrectly reporting a software install, I was hoping to just eliminate a notification on C++

Dear MichelleU,
Thank you for this post,
SysAid detect changes to the software of an asset by any change to the information in the "Program and Features" section in the computer.
The Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 writes each minor update as a new line (as in the attached screen shot)
I assume this was an automatic windows update that was detected by SysAid.

Thanks. but that isn't the case. We have a strict patching schedule. All patching and such is done after hours and weekend.
This seems to happen when someone logs into the server.
I am not 100% sure of this and will need to test further. But I can say, nothing was installed to trigger this notification.
