Hello
I have just installed Sysaid on a spare server.
Internally it works fine
My requirement is that we offer support to our external partners and branches.
problem is not sure how to do this.
My ISP has given me a static IP but nort sure from there.
Thanks for reading.

The key sentence for this is: make the SysAid server machine accessible from the web.
The static IP is a good start, however, it will get you only as far as the first router.
You now need to get through the router and all the way to the SysAid server machine.
So, what you need is to set up port forwarding from the router to the SysAid server and to the predefined SysAid access port (by default 8080).
So it would be something like:
From: *:8080 (or 80 for that matter) To: SysAidmachineIP/URL:8080
Hope this is clear enough.
Good luck!

One thing to consider is that will 8080 be avaiable for your customers connecting to your site. Many IT departments will block access (outbound), so if you can run with port 80 to make everyone's life easier in the long run.

Heads-UP
this will ONLY give you access to the Web interface
If you use the Remote control,
RCG , you will need 443...or what ever port you manually setup
Direct connection, 4228...and any extra admin uses it.. ports must be setup per computer

On second thought..
Perhaps you should consider moving to the 'On Demand' solution.
The 'On Demand' is a hosted edition of SysAid, similar in every way to your own, only its always available from the web, and is hosted by SysAid.
Using the 'On Demand' edition has some more benefits:
It can save you not only the need to set up the access, but also the need for the SysAid server and the database server.
It will spare you the need to run upgrades as those wll be done by the SysAid On Demand team.
think about it.

Set up a VPN with your branches. The downside with just opening up ports is that now you're exposing potentially confidential data to the outside world. No system is completely secure. I work in healthcare and I cringe at just the thought of opening up our server to the outside world.
