I got different "bible" for each "religion" actually.
But I will try to be appropriate here....
My bible is - Network Administration Survival Guide by Sue Plumley from Wiley publishing.
Why ?
First of all it covers everything (mind the timeline, it's a bible it's supposed to be old !) hardware, software, management... of course the downside is it can't be too "deep" but that's what the internet is for !
It's like a spark that let me see where the switch is you know ?
Second of all it is the first book for me then, written from admin points of view... not some hit-and-run consultant.. or IT company CEO who leaves the net managing to the very hit-and-run consultants!... it made me realize that I was not alone. That the s*** I have to put up is face by a community... and most important thing is - there's a way out.
Third of all... it is simple, to-the-point and practical. I remember reading it like I read a manual for toy model building (ya know those scaled war planes replicas ?) instead of finishing it and then do something.
I don't know if it's updated to suit the era. But I can still amaze people today by applying what I (re)read from my 1999 copy !
Sue..sue...sue....
*sigh*
Whereever you are gal,
I'm forever yours...
