Hi there,
I'm trying to group machines automatically by the domain they belong to. If I pick an asset and go to the general tab, at the bottom is "Network". That gives me exactly the information I need such as:
"Host Bill@Microsoft.internal" or whatever.
I need to be able to search for any asset that includes "*@microsoft.internal" in the network section so that I can add them to a company.
How can I do this?
Thanks.

I am also looking for logs for email integration. Our test messages work, but nothing else.
Thanks.

Sure, I meant that there must be a partial installation in place.
Turns out if I do an installation using the SysAid Administrator tool "Deploy Sysaid" it works. So, that must install in a different method than the deployment within the regular Sysaid install.
Cheers for help.

Hi there,
We installed a trial of Sysaid 7.* last year. Some of the features we needed were not there so we didn't proceed with the purchase. Now those features are in 8.1 so we are trialing again.
When I do a WMI scan all of our devices are listed, but when I try to deploy agents those fail. I've logged onto a PC and can see in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SysAid\update\Logs folder there is reference to the old server.
There is no mention of Sysaid in appwiz.cpl.
Can I ensure that all previous versions of Sysaid are removed before reinstalling the newest version by using some script? The "Sysaid Agent" service is also running.
Thanks for any help,
Kieran.

Hi guys - we want to do this too, but as a newbie, I've no idea where to enter this information. Can anyone give me a quick step-by-step?
Thanks.

Hi there,
After doing a network discovery most of the names of the assets are blank:
We are using 8.1 Enterprise
Application server version Apache Tomcat/6.0.26
Database Type Derby
Thanks

Haim wrote:Dear Mark,
Please try the below steps to change your server address in SysAid:
In order to change the ServerURL, please follow these instructions:
1. Edit serverConf.xml located at: c:\Program Files\SysAidServer\root\WEB-INF\conf\
2. After (on the next line) the tag <externalLoginClass>, see if you have this tag: <serverURL>http://Your_SysAidServerURL:port</serverURL>
If you don't have that tag, then insert it on the next line after the <externalLoginClass>. Replace the value to your SysAid Server External IP and if the port that you use is not 80, then add :port_number of the IP.
3. Save changes, and restart the SysAid Server service in Administrative Tools->Services.
4. See if the ServerURL in the Downloads page has changed and if you send a notification about new password to the user, that the link is to the external IP.
After changing the address in SysAid, please un-install the deployment tool and then re-install it with the new address.
After re-installing the deployment tool, please re-deploy the agent to your assets so they can access SysAid in its new address.
Best regards.
Haim
Just to say cheers for this - worked great for me!

I'm getting the same error on three remote sites where I've installed the 7.5 remote agent.
It's been between 30 minutes and five hours between installs but none have shown up yet. Any ideas about this one Sysaiders?
Thanks

Hi there - this must have been asked before and I have searched, but I can't find an answer so sorry about that.
How do I deploy the agent without leaving a desktop icon?
Thanks

Thanks - had to undeploy from the domain - didn't think that would work as it was a brand new install in the meantime, but it worked fine.
Thanks

Hi I am having this problem now too. I previously installed 7.0 on the domain as a trial and am now using 7.5, but the machines on the domain will not upgrade as they already have an agent (though they still don't show up in the asset list).
Is there a way to force an install?
Thanks
Kieran.

I've got version 1.1 and though it shows the current outstanding faults correctly, the assets look like this:
Anyone else having that problem?

I've just had a very odd situation when I've added some new assets on remote client sites.
I installed the agent on ServerA and for the hell of it, logged a false test fault there. The asset showed up in my SysAid server with the green dot beside it showing the fault.
I then remoted to another client site and installed the agent on ServerB. It did NOT show up in the asset list though. After a little while I noticed that ServerB was now in the asset list, but ServerA was missing. ServerB now had the green dot indicating the fault that I registered on ServerA.
After much head scratching I found that both servers had the same MAC addresses. They are both Hyper-V machines which shows that the virtual MAC addresses handed out to virtual machines are not as random as I'd hoped. Shutting down ServerB, changing the MAC in settings and powering up sorted out both servers.
So for other people using Hyper-V networks it may be worth changing the pool of random MAC addresses that you use on each site.

Hi,
I've just installed the agent on two servers using the exe on both. The first installed without reporting any errors, but the icon never appeared on the desktop and the server is not in the asset list - the service IS running though and I've restarted it.
On the second server the icon appeared and it is in the asset list. How do I find out what happened to the first server?
Cheers
Kieran.
