What is the platform ?
If it's windows... manage engine's opmanager is free for 5 server. You can monitor everything from, cpu, capacity, services down to event logs and have them mail something to you.

Have you snoop around event viewer just in case there's a trace of error there ?

Since you can pin point the time I second Cohen on looking abit closer to anything "scheduled" antivirus, asset scan, backup....etc

I have even fired a formal SR for it, they said it's a feature request.
