Hi Mucho,
We do have plans to improve our Linux agent - did you have any specific features you would like to see in our Linux Agent?
The reason for moving to .NET agent is purely technology - our current agent is written in a programming language and code that were just getting out of date, and the time has come to stop fixing bugs and creating patches - we decided to develop our agent (Windows) in a better native Windows language.
The agent contains the same feature set - and a lot of bugs have been fixed - ( a lot of bugs were related to the technology used and were solved by replacing the technology).
Being a more advanced technology - The .NET agent includes better memory management, Security management, error handling and much more.
The minimum requirements for our Agent do require to have a .NET framework installed - this has become a common tools set on work stations in the past decade, I will ask our R&D to post the minimum requirements for the new agent - which aren't that different from our current requirements. (Mainly the requirement for a .NET framework)
All existing features in our current Agent will continue to work with newer server releases - so you don't have to upgrade the Agent on machines where you don't have the minimum requirements.

You will need to make your SysAid Server URL available to the world.... Via DMZ, or any other method.
You may also choose to setup a cloud account - then this is fully taken care of by us :)

Here is an idea:
Make sure to check out the most common issues - you can issue a report to find the top X issues.
Then you can make them available as incident template (or Quicklist) - that way you can make it easier on your users to fill out the form
It will also allow you to remove the categories from the form and still have initial classification done by user. You can keep the categories on the form for advanced users that want to select specific categories.

Congrats on the upgrade :)
From within the user form you can add the field. you can see the help on this here:
http://www.sysaid.com/help-page.htm?helpPageId=4110&helpPageName=UserEdit.htm&edition=2&version=v9.0.533&Admin=Y&productId=1
Simply click the customize icon, and move the out of office field to the visible fields.

Its under the asset management form help page and list, simply click the -?- from within the asset form.
Here is the direct link:
http://www.sysaid.com/help-page.htm?helpPageId=4186&helpPageName=CompInfo.htm&edition=2&version=v9.0.533&Admin=Y&productId=1
The bottom table on the page has a full explanation for all fields including the : Disabled
"Shows whether the asset is disabled or not. Automatic inventory updates, monitoring, and all other agent capabilities are turned off for disabled assets. Disabled assets do not count against your license total. If an asset is not disabled, it's enabled."
But I will take your input and see that it is easier to find via the search in the online aid : I tried searching for "disable asset" and it didn't find anything, however "disable" alone found too much....
So thanks !

Hi Gman,
Simply select the checkbox near the asset in the asset list.
Then you will see a menu with option that appears above the list.
Select the "mode" dropdown and set it to disabled.
(I think you may also add the disabled control to the asset form)

The news is actually planned to be fully redesigned as part of our GUI project.
We are in final stages of developing a new interface to improve the existing SysAid interface and it will enhance the experience including the news

Hi,
Karlson is correct - the suggestion only pops up while entering the title in the end user portal - would you like the option for the same suggestions to popup when admins enter tickets ?
What we do support today is a focused search - when you launch the "search knowledgebase" action from a ticket - it opens all relevant articles in the same category the ticket is classified as to present you articles that could be relevant based on the category
I was thinking of creating a control that you could add to the form - and once in the "visible" fields would behave the same like for end users and suggest articles - what do you say?

I have been in touch with you all via the community since 2008 when we launched the community.
We have constantly been working on expanding SysAid product and delivering features to all customers - you can look back and see all enhancements we delivered within the product and also additional modules we added - and not all modules require purchasing - see the latest MDM module we released in 9.0 that is available without a module purchasing cost (you can manage it within your asset licenses). A large percent of the features you have all been requesting over the years have reached the product and a lot more are in the pipeline!
Now about Cloud vs. In-House. We are not postponing In-House features; we are releasing features to the Cloud earlier - because it is possible. In prior years, features would wait until major releases - every 7-8 months.
This situation did not change and stays the same for In-House customers today. Cloud edition allows us to release features as soon as they are developed, something that is much more challenging in the case of the In-House, and is done in very specific cases with critical security or other urgent issues (e.g. Java fix and Chrome issue) but not for major features.
Now to answer your questions on our plans - the new feature discussed in the webinar just became available for Cloud customers, and will be packaged in our upcoming major release together with the new UI we are working hard on and additional features. The plan is to be able to launch a Beta in July and official release a few weeks later.
I will not repeat the points Dena wrote above about the complex process of releasing an In-House edition - but they are true...
We transformed to agile in the Cloud because it is possible and even a must - moving to be more agile in in-house is possible but requires different resources and processes. By moving to being agile in the Cloud, we are also contributing to the process of the In-House edition and are able to move faster and deliver more features there as well.

You are all welcome to download it at http://www.sysaid.com/release-upgrades.htm
For those of you in older versions of SysAid (8.1 and above), now is a good time to upgrade to 9.0 :) ..... but if you are not ready to upgrade to 9 yet you can simply follow the instructions in this post for implementing the fix manually
