Not sure if this is along the same lines or not, but there is also the Knowledge Base, assuming the end-users are trained to go and check to see if their problem has come up before.
Yeah, we could save ourselves a lot of headaches and bottles of Pepto Bismol. Though I do like that new cherry flavor. Maybe even put a little scratch inour own pockets...
For PC, my favorite game would have to be Sid Meir's Alpha Centauri. It is an amazing strategy game and he gives several options to beat the game. Plus after you win, you can continue playing through the scenarios.

The Need For Speed franchise has put out a lot of great games as well.

I have been playing Brothers in Arms on the X-Box and Halo 2 alot lately. Gun is good and if you want to go for some good, old fashion, wholesome, fun; HITMAN!!! (disclaimer: I do not condone the violence or the scenarios portrayed in the game, Hitman®. My comment, "good, old fashion, wholesome, fun" is meant to be a humorous, sarcastic remark. Thank you.)
Hey, I have a great idea. Techguy inspired me. Let's put together a handbook for all users.
This isn't one of mine, but still worth the share. I got it from one of the ladies I work with.

"In God we trust, all others we virus scan!"

Techguy, I agree totally with all of yours. I want to make an addition to it though.

(35.?) Call us and e-mail us repeatedly over any trivial item, such as updating your signature in e-mail. Maintaining the network can be put on hold while we try to get the font size just right. Really, it's ok that a server is down. Your request is much more important. And it is ok to yell at us when we don't respond within 15 seconds of receiving the calls. It motivates us.

(I'm still missing some pictures from others btw...)

*looks in various directions trying not to make eye contact with Saar and Obelix* I know I know, I haven't submitted it yet. I tried getting my coworker to snap the picture, but she said she had better things to do. What a buzzkill. lol I am working on getting it into you soon.
That last one makes me a little nervous. I really don"t want our users doing it manually. Too much potential for disaster.
Looks like that fixed it. She logged in today and had no problems. I am happy now. By the way, I thought of a new SysAid slogan for ya.

"User + SR = Happy Solution. User + Self Repair = Nightmare for Tech Support. Please, think of the Tech Support. Open a Service Request Today. You'll be glad you did. *winks and smiles at camera*"
Obelix, it looks like your links have helped me to fix the problem. I will know for sure in the next couple of days. (monitoring right now). Turns out, I wasn't too far off. I was in the right area, just looking under the wrong subfolder. Too damn many folders in registry. ugh

Thank for your help bud.

And yesss.. although not in the amount I asked... but they arrived.
I even submitted our picture already.
*smile*

I need to get my pic up there. One of these days I might. *smiles deviously*
Thanks Obelix. Here is the DCOM I am receiving, with the exception of crucial data of course.

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for
the COM Server application with CLSID
{0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064}
to the user DOMAIN\username SID
(*-*-*-**-********-*********-**********-****) This security permission can be
modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Thanks for the help.

By the way, did your mug ever show up?
I have been running through the event logs and found a ton of DCOMM errors. These things are hitting every couple of minutes so long as the user is logged into the network. I noticed that when the user locks the computer, like when they go to lunch, we don't see any DCOMM errors. When they come back, so do the errors. We have the user logging into the computer with a local account to reduce login time. Any suggestions?
I will try that. Some of the things I have read while researching this have suggested group policies might be another culprit. I will be first login to see if that is another issue. I can check msconfig while doing that. Also, the machine has a static IP and dns.
I have a user who has about a 5 - 10 minute wait from the time she submits her credentials to the time she is allowed to actually do any work. We have done some testing and have determined it is on the computer itself. It happens on the first login of the day. If she locks the computer and comes back the next day, there is no issue. If we shut the computer off and power up the next day, we run into issues. This happens to anyone that logs into the computer, not just her. I have updated drivers and still no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?
We have a user who is having issues with Outlook 2007. When she clicks on the Out of Office assistant to disable it, Outlook closes. When she clicks on the "To" button to bring up a list of contacts, Outlook closes. I have re-installed Outlook on her machine in hopes that the issue would be repaired and it appeared that the problem was fixed for a little while, but it came back about 3 weeks after the reload. Any ideas?
Haim, this is only happening at one location.

Administrator, the problem isn't in the power settings. In our testing, we have had the user lock the computer and within 90 seconds have them log back in and we still expierience the problem.

We are recieving an error message stating: "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object." It looks like the computer is dropping part of the logon credentials when the user locks the machine. I'm not sure about this though. The users have no problems logging in to the machine at start up, only when they lock the machine.
