Migrating Statuses

Not sure if statuses is a word, but I am trying to move from the default statuses, to newer ones.

For the past year, our system has used the (I assume default) New,Open,Closed, Verified Closed, Postponed.

I have changed them to Open, Waiting for user, waiting for confirmation, waiting for resource, cancelled, closed.

The problem is if I add the new statuses, and then delete the old ones, the old ones don't show. Sysaid seems to ignore all SRs that aren't on the this. The system isn't new and it has thousands of SRs; so I can't shoehorn them into the new statuses.

I recently changed the categories, and that part had the facility to move deleted category to new ones. Very handy.

Is there a way to get my new statuses in and old one gone? Besides rolling up my selves and messing directly with the database backend?

Re:Migrating Statuses

My problem is a bit different then that.

At a basic level, what I want to do is add new ones and have the old one not appear a choice anymore.

If I delete the old ones from the status list, sysaid doesn't show them in any listings anymore. Looks like it only queries the database for statues in the list, and excludes the rest.
