The responses from support were "We have investigated this issue with our development team and they have found that this is not a bug but a display difference between the browsers." and "We have discussed the issue again Firefox & IE are two different browsers don’t work the same.
There is no way to make them behave the same with out damaging other major functionally of SysAid."

Other products manage to work around the slightly different browser behaviours so I am still perplexed by this reponse, especially when by default web pages size to the size of the window, so why does sysaid struggle with this?

But maybe i am wrong, perhaps Internet Explorer is now in the minority.

So my question is, is Internet Explorer the most commonly used browser and therefore should be better catered for? Which browser do you use sysaid with?

I honestly don't believe you can't find codes that works for both. Approach it like css... when incompatible, display downgrade gracefully but all functionality intact, all information still there. Most of the problem lies on presentations.. or "display" as you say it. I say lose the make up.
I missed the blue SysAid everyday my browser refreshes.

I'm sorry, but I sense a bigger problem in support department cause you guys got problem even between versions of the same product. So if you come to the point where you have to choose, remember firefox run on linux and windows... IE runs only on windows.

I've noticed some front-end issues with SysAid and FF3 - the icons don't line up, etc. (This is the same on the SysAid support site too.)

I also have firefox but only use for admin on one specific site we had designed where the CMs only works correclty in FF.

I have to agree with Seanick here because using IE7, we have issues with the layout of the front page (whether it's custom or not).

A few weeks ago (I think due to an auto upgrade) my IE7 has started to crash and restart a few times a day (all sites) ! and I installed Firefox 2.

So far I am happy with it - I still use both.

Regarding SysAid and the browser - It is the same for me - I don't see any major difference

Regarding the difference between IE and FF , the width of the columns in the HelpDesk list is been calculated by the browser according to the given width of the browser and the total width of the columns that your selected view display. FF and IE are doing this calculation differently. but sadly no fix yet.
If you have already solved it in the end user one, why can't this fix be applied in the administrator one? To my knowledge this is the only major problem I have found in chrome which I uses for sysaid all the time, but it is a pain having to go back to IE just to use the knowledgebase.

I was notified because I reported the issue with the enabling of third level categories and was asked to test the fix in this version, I don't think it is exactly on "General Public Release" yet.

I am sure Haim/Sarah or Oded will formally announce it in a post here when it is on General Release for download, but I can say that the fix in it does work.

I can assure you there is no favouritism going on here, it is their usual policy to contact the people who have reported the fault to test the fix first. This patch (5.6.10) is a minor patch which deal with some minor issues (like the issue with the third level categories), and as such, we released it to anyone who complained on any of the issues it fixes.
We are planning to release an official patch in the next few weeks, and around the end of March, we plan to release the next version, version 6.

Sorry to but in here, Before my thread about browser compatibility disappears off at a complete tangent, Oded is your man for what is coming in the new version, if you take a look at the feature request forum and search for "6.0", you will see he has begun changing the titles for some of the features that are coming in Version 6. IE does not refresh properly. I have found that the prompt boxes that show when you hover the mouse over the service request tends to stick to the mouse pointer when you move it to the menu. I have to hit F5 for it to disappear.

Im a big fan of Firefox and IE6-IE8 have been (imo correctly) slated but MS have really made a big step up with IE9.

For all those who changed to FireFox a few years ago I would recommend you give IE9 a chance (Windows 7 a pre-req).
