The reason is that the fix is database specific and it involves entering some SQL.
Ilient have a policy of trying not to post fixes on the community that are platform specific, which is wise, as sometimes the same modification on a different database type could have disastrous effects! Also I suspect they are trying to collate data on how many people are affected by this issue. If they posted the fix to the forum when they don't yet know the cause, they are not going to be able to track how many people are affected either.

The problem has just happened to the same two administrators again, and possibly others as well. I would rather not go about it in the same time-consuming way that I did before, so any help would be greatly appreciated. In order to address this issue, we would like you to connect to the Derby database and then run an SQL query which will restore the default settings for that particular administrator.

For detailed instructions on how to connect to the Derby database using an JDBC connection, please refer to our forum post at http://www.ilient.com/Sysforums/posts/list/621.page.

In step 8 of those instructions, please run the following query:
update sysaid_user set user_conf=null where user_name='USER_NAME';
Note: Please replace USER_NAME with the actual username. You should run this query for each administrator who is encountering that problem.

As a precautionary measure, we strongly advise that you backup your current database before running the above query.

I'm working from home today so i can't verify it 100% but as far as i remember this issue was fixed in version 6.
