How many users do you support?

I am curious to see how many end users (or "computer breaking creatures") each of you supports with SysAid.

I don't mean average per-day or anything like that, total number of end users.

At the moment we have a total of 663 end users

Edit:

Including myself we have 4 Administrators that support laptops, desktops, printers, etc (day to day stuff), but 11 total. The remaining administrators are programmers, a manager, and a couple of people we have recruited in various places to help out with training and some basic support functions (one at the jail, one in detectives, etc).

We would most likely need more people but we are paying the county for use of their network backbone, so they support any major network problems for us. Then again, IT could [i]always[/i] use more people.

We are currently at 2 admins for 210 retail stores, ~60 corporate users, and 22 roaming laptop users (3 counting the IT Director/database administrator).

With 3 guys including me with different role (1 support, 1 system, 1 general helper/admin). Yep we are more like handy men than IT helpdesk. *roll eyes*

About to support roaming notebooks.
So going to need lots of advice and heads up from you guys...sooner or later.

NOnono... being independent is one thing.
By handyman I mean the nature of the job is very often ridiculously tied to IT.

We are responsible from cleaning the wax off the mouse ball (I know... we have stop ordering them and use the optical one, but the existing one just won't die !) down to constructing company's brochure !

OOoo am also inherit the role king of the conference room... guess why ? *shaking head sighing smile*

I am the only IT person supporting over 100 staff around 200 computers, 7 servers and around 500 students spread across 3 sites.
I'm in charge everything from designing/administering their website to installing cabling to replacing mice. And I somehow still have time to post this....

We're a high school in the uk with 5 IT support staff (including myself) supporting 9 Servers, approx. 450 desktops/laptops, projectors in every classroom, Interactive whiteboards, and just over 1000 users (rising to over 1250 users in 2010/2011).

It is 2 of administrators (including me), database adminitrator and ITDirector so 4 in total.

We are close to 500 the amount of users we support plus numberous computers, lap tops, servers, even handhelds. We usually use a different helpdesk application, however i was reading the user manual and the possibilies with SysAid is endless. We shoudl go online in a few weeks. Still getting a custom to sysaid.

As a side note, only 3 of our Staff directly support, the rest, including myself have more specialized task such as network, telecom, systems, database, etc...

We provide outsourced support to Small Business clients in Colorado Springs. We pretty much do everything for them, so I like the "handyman" metaphor.

So far, it's just me with a recently hired part time trainee to start picking up part of the load. Haven't done much advertising, but have grown significantly from word-of-mouth referrals.

Roughly 30 businesses ranging from individuals to around 60 assets with the typcial client being 15-30 workstations
~35 Servers
~300 Workstations
+ a number of occasional "break-fix" style clients

Keeps me busy, but provides nice variety! I like seeing different people each day and navigating the inevitable office politics and culture at each of them. Sometimes it's good to be an outsider!

Looks like most of the responses have multiple admins, so I need some advice...

I'm curious how you handle the port forwarding required for so many admins when using RC.

I will soon face this issue of adding more admins for support, and forsee the only option to statically assign an IP address to each machine they will use, and forward a different port for each of those machine. Thus having a port associated with a particular IP and each admin having to remember which is 'their' port for RC.

Am I looking at doing this the hard way, or is there a simpler way to solve this issue?

Myself and a part time admin support 239 users (thank you sysaid for that number) at 8 sites covering 5 counties in southeast Michigan USA and just as many computers plus network hardware, servers, phones etc. There are 5 other I.T. staff, but they are not helpdesk oriented staff. Director, DB Admin, etc. But they do help out when needed.

Me as the Service Desk (L1 & L2) support.

Supporting 7 sites so far (more contracts added on a weekly basis)

Anywhere between 200-400 users I believe.

Only about 50 or 60 machines though. Which is nice.

Oh, and I have to use a service desk tool - hence why I'm here.

30 servers on this 12 are Citrix 6 Barracuda (web filter and spam filter) 3 exchange server some sql server and some NAS (Qnap)

I am the Director of IT, with 3 support folks under me. We have 9 servers (including a two node VM cluster that has another 7 servers on it), 320 users, 300 workstations and laptops. All of this in the same city, but in 5 separate physical locations.

We support all the day-to-day issues as well as our phone system (IP Office), networks, TV's, cameras, conference room equipment, physical inventory of our stores, minor graphic design, etc.

If it is remotely related to electronics, its likely we support and maintain it.

I am the Network Administrator at our company. We have 3 people in the IT departement but essentially, only me deals with the technical side of the company and support. we have my boss who is the Director of IT and one programer with us.

So for myself, I am handling

2 sites (one in canada, the other in the US)

- 379 users
- 446 assets (computers, printers, switches, etc)
- 17 Servers (some of which are Virtual servers)

I offer support 24hours a day 7 days a week (we are a manufacturing company which is running all the time). And all this while handling the technical sides of different projects that we have. Sometimes, I don't even know how I do it.

Yeah I know, we need to hier someone else to give me a hand...

All that, and they only give you title of IT person? You'd think they would put "Super" in front at least. I hope your making good change?

2 admins (one actually programmers helps out when needed, the other does PC issues), 1 IT Director and 2 others not related to the maintenance of the PC's.

35 Users, 60 devices, two buildings, one IT guy. We're a tool and die so I can spend the morning shooting printer issue's, lunch approving wsus updates, and the afternoon hacking into a milling center or EDM machine to network it to a cam pc. SysAid really is a big help.
