Rich Text Email

Hi,

I'm currently using SysAid as my primary means of communicating with the Service Requests I receive. Any replies that are sent me comes to my Exchange mailbox email address but I want to keep all communications logged in the SysAid database for easy future reference to communication.

What I'm wondering is there any way of enable rich text in the "send message" portion of SysAid much like the Knowledge Base editor has?

You can use html if you change Preferences -> Integration -> Email -> Content Type into "text/HTML"

Thanks for the reply, I've already enabled HTML, I was looking for something a little more intergrated like in the SysAid Knowledge Base/User Self Help section. I'm guessing there is then no way of including this text editor into the SysAid Send Message section is there?

If not can this be moved to Feature Request section as I would imagine it wouldn't be to hard to port into the next version?

Also are there any plans of intergrating a more fully featured mail client into SysAid?

Hello noexistence.

Is your request means you want a WYSIWYG (graphical text editor like in the kb) editor to send out emails in SysAid?
This is an indeed feature request.
Please confirm that this is what you would like and I will forward it to the feature request.

EDIT: Disregard this issue, I figured it out.... on the other hand, things look incredibly messy when sending messages after I changed content type to HTML.

First I would check that the authentication details are correct. Then check that the email address you are trying to receive with is entered correctly. If it is not a simple problem like this it might be best to open a SR at helpdesk.ilient.com and attach a copy of your logs, found at "…\SysAidServer\root\WEB-INF\logs" zipped up.

Wow, thanks for the fast answer!

I just noticed this a couple of minutes after I posted here. And for some reason it was my own users login details that was input in outgoing email authentication (wasnt so before). I changed it once I noticed this and now its working again.

I've got a new "problem" now though, with the html text format

Sorry I see now.

I have had that problem. I think in the HTML Templates (Preferences> Customize> Customized Notifications) you need to add HTML Breaks "
" in order to get the line breaks into the emails.

To fix the emails design go to preferences > integration > email, and in "content type" replace the phrase HTML to lower case and save the changes.

this will be fixed in a future patch, so the case of the "html" will not effect the mechanism that align the outgoing emails to HTML without the need to user
at the end of every line

Hi

We are experiencing a few issues with HTML emails and I'm wondering if the above quote has anything to do with it. We are using lowercase html in the content type in the preferences/integration/email setting.

We have formated a test html message body using dreamweaver and for some reason we are getting many extra
's inserted into the message that is sent.

If the content that is placed into the custom notification body is real html then why is the system adding extra
into the code?

I would have thought that anyone wanting to send a html message would provide html? But it seems that the notification area is assuming it will receive plain text and thus replaces carrage returns with
and makes it impossible to format a nice looking html message.

Are there any setting we can change that will help to allow html messages.

Ok, here is the solution to this html-problem: User EbroIN had posted the answer in this thread [url]http://www.ilient.com/Sysforums/posts/list/2181.page[/url]! The answer is, don´t write nice looking code, because it will look crappy in the actual email. Just write everything in one line, don´t bother about BODY- and HTML-tags and you´re fine!
