SysAid update release notes for 8.5.08?

I cannot find anything on this update (other than that it fixes "security vulnerabilities" on some random forums), and this has been a trend - no official release notes on these smaller updates. I did see Oded listed the fixes for 8.5.05 but only in a forum response. I would really like to see specific release notes on each version, even the little updates - in fact, I would LOVE to get an email notification on there being new updates available.

Am I just missing these things being available somewhere else, or does anybody else have the same grievance?

Re:SysAid update release notes for 8.5.08?

I agree completely. There's no reason we shouldn't be made aware there's a new version available, especially as problematic as this release has been. In fact, why not do it in the Admin Portal main screen? We already have boxes for Recent Forum Topics and Forum Notifications, why not one for Current Version and release notes?

I cannot find any release notes either, but I would love to be informed about minor updates aswell! I created a service request at sysaid support to ask about this.
when I hear something I will post it here.

And yes it would be quite normal in my opinion to be able to get an e-mail or a post on the forums about all the updates.

I totally agree with this. Customers should be alerted on new releases with release notes so that we can make an informed decision whether we need to patch or upgrade or not. I asked for the same thing.

Re:SysAid update release notes for 8.5.08?

Hi all,
We’re sorry for the confusion everyone is having here. I want to clarify that the minor release has not been finalized yet, and everyone will be notified with more information within the next few days once the minor release is officially finalized.

The reason some of you have been upgraded already is because versions 8.5.06-8.5.08 have been gradually released in a selective manner so we could validate its quality. Because we don't run our beta process on minor releases and patches, we released these versions selectively to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Customers that complained about issues that were fixed in these releases were instructed to upgrade first. Also, any customer that upgraded recently received these releases as well.

As soon as 8.5.08 release is finalized, we will update you with information about the fixed issues and upgrade instructions.

Thanks for your patience!
Oded
As soon as 8.5.08 release is finalized, we will update you with information about the fixed issues and upgrade instructions.
Interesting, since the update is available for download on the website for almost two weeks.
And I received this answer from sysaid support when I asked if I could get notified about all updates, even minor ones like 8.5.08

I quote:

"We update all our clients when a new major release goes out (7.5x , 8.0x , 8.5x etc..) . On minor releases, we do not send a broadcast message with an update so there's no list i can add you to. The best you can do here is to check on our website / contact us once in a while.

Since this is a minor release, there's no new features in it.. only some bug fixes that we found since 8.5.05 and we think that a new build (version) is required here. Again, there's no release_notes that i can share with. The main fixes here was with the green pop up icon warning message that won't disappear and some performance improvements"

Re:SysAid update release notes for 8.5.08?

Here's my problem with that.

Yes, I understand it's not a major release and no new features have been released. However, there have been bugs fixed and it seems like 99% of the time, I'm being frustrated by those bugs. It would take very very very little work to setup a mailing list and send a one line email saying a new version has been release.

Come on ilient, it's the small things that make your customers happy. Step up to the plate here.

Or, to reiterate what I said earlier, just have the main Admin Portal screen pull and display the currently available version from somewhere. I know it's possible, since 1) it's pulling recent community posts like this one, and 2) it has displayed the "Sysaid 8.5 is out!" message!

Re:SysAid update release notes for 8.5.08?

Thanks for the feedback about it.
I think it is mixup of feedbacks and trying to please all... We got back then also contrary feedback from customers that they do not want to be notified on every minor and asked to reduce the number of emails when no new features are added. But I see your point and I think I also have the solution for it.
We recently started using new email system which we can try and better tune the likes and interests of emails sent your way. So for example, one may remove himself from certain updates and leave others.
We will work on this internally and keep you updated once ready.
Sounds OK?

On that topic - how about sharing your feedback on the notification you get inside the product (this green message)? Is that working for you?

I like the way my anti-malware system does it (Vipre Business). On the main page, there is a box called "Product Notices" that lists Installed Version, Available Version, and has a link to the latest, along with any "news" and alerts the vendor puts out. The information is always there when needed, but unobtrusive. If Sysaid had a similar area on the Admin Portal page, I would think that would meet most everyone's needs.
