Exchange Online - SMTP server

Our mail services are online through Microsoft Office 365. I am evaluating SysAid with the free edition and I have configured SMTP but so far I cannot send an outgoing email from SysAid. I have a hunch what the problem may be but I also cannot find any log within SysAid to troubleshooting SMTP.

1) Is there SMTP logging in SysAid?
2) I believe I need to use TLS security for the Office 365/Exchange Online SMTP server but I don't see this option. Note, for our domain accounts that don't have Exchange functionality, I have those users using POP/SMTP and have not had problem using the Exchange Online SMTP server so I am confident that the SMTP server values are correct.

I have also just confirmed succesful use our this Exchange Online SMTP sever on my Android tablet. In this case I had to chose "STARTTLS (accept all certificates)" as the security type.

I'm having the same problem. I cannot get SysAid to integrate with our Exchange Online BPOS (we haven't transitioned to Office365 yet) SMTP server. I have also tested this with an iPad, Android Phone, and Windows Live Mail and the SMTP server works fine when using a TLS option. Can this be looked at in time for SysAid 9?

Re:Exchange Online - SMTP server

Hello,
According to Microsoft officially policy you need to use TLS on port 587 to connect to your Office 365 e-mail accounts with SMTP. Still, Outlook Express connects on port 587 using SSL instead of TLS authentication and it works. Please try to configure your outgoing email integration in SysAid by specifying SMTP port = 587 and check Enable SSL Secure, and I would appreciate if you could post the results here.

Nevertheless, we are working on developing the support TLS encrypted connection in SysAid.
Its feature number is FR#10,235 and we plan it to be included in our upcoming major release.

Regards,

Oleg

Oleg,

I did try as you requested and am still unable to send or receive any email through SysAid. Where do I find logs for email integration? SysAid accepts the settings but never gets incoming email and when you send an email nothing happens. We are using Free Edition 8.5.08. Thank you!

Re:Exchange Online - SMTP server

I have found a temporary work around for getting SysAid to integrate with Office 365 by setting up an internal SMTP relay on my 2008 Windows Server by following this article:

http://www.configureoffice365.com/configure-office-365-smtp-relay/

I hope this can help others as well until TLS security is implemented into SysAid.

Thank You!!

Re:Exchange Online - SMTP server

I have been trying to get SysAid to integrate with Office365 and it doesn't seem to work.

Went ahead and installed thunder bird on the same virtual server, using same email config settings.

I was able to login to the office365 account.

After looking at sysaid logs, it says authentication failure. I dont think SysAid is initiating a Start-TLS on the SMTP.

Incoming and outgoing does not work with Office365 & SysAid email integration.

The only work around is using a SMTP relay server in house, and pointing outgoing email to the SMTP Relay.
Currently not able to allow incoming email with my relay due to current config requirements.
